The American Heart Association designed the ACLS program to prepare healthcare and emergency medical services personnel in the treatment of cardiac emergencies.  The program places emphasis on early recognition of life-threatening cardiac emergencies and recommended treatment.  We highly recommend you possess an understanding of CPR, pharmacology and ECG rhythm interpretation skills before enrolling in this class.  Tuition includes the American Heart Association ACLS Provider textbook.

 

Cancellation / Refund Policy

  • Registrants will be issued a refund only if they cancel with at least 48 hours notice prior to the course start time. Cancellations / Rescheduling requests must be emailed to phoran@wakefieldems.org. Time / Date stamp on email must be greater than 48 hours. 
  • Registrants may apply their course fee to a future course only if the request is made with at least 48 hours notice.  Requests to change with less than 48 hours notice will result in forfeiture of course fee.
  • Any course participant who does not fulfill the prerequisites will not be issued a refund.
  • Course participants who do not attend the course will not be issued a refund.
  • An Administrative Fee of 5% will be charged for all course cancellations.

In this classroom-based course, healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

This course is for both Initial and Renewals.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

Students are required have a current provider (2020) manual with them at the time of the course.

BLS is geared towards prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, and in-facility hospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is geared towards anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recertification course is for healthcare professionals who already hold a current PALS certification and need re-certification. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certification card valid for two years.  If your PALS card has expired, you may sign up for this course; however, you must successfully complete both written and practical skills testing without remediation in order to receive a course completion card.

Course Completion Requirements To receive a course completion card, the student must attend and participate in the entire course, demonstrate proficiency in CPR skills, pass required skills tests, and pass required written tests.

This 40 hour course meets and exceeds the requirements for training as an EMS Instructor in Pennsylvania. Students will still be required to teach 20 hours with an ETA during a certification course to receive the endorsement as an EMS Instructor.
